A generally quiet and obedient person, Kakeru is someone who doesn't often speak her mind. While she is not the most expressive, she is more than capable of making sour faces at friends. Rarely, a smile will also appear.

Not a stand-out (aside from her height), she is lacking in charisma - but is still a reliable and steady existence in the lives of others. She makes a point of being useful even if only in the shadows, although she simultaneously desires the chance to be noticed. Kakeru is often at war with herself, between what she aspires to and what she feels comfortable doing. She struggles with nerves in the public eye. The place she feels able to stand out is during sporting events, but not much elsewhere.

Although not unfriendly, she is prone to becoming very jealous of the people she sees and encounters, for any reason - which isn't assisted by her bumbling nature and awkwardness when engaging with others. While she wishes to effortlessly draw people to her, she also finds the thought very daunting. Generally speaking, her self-esteem is quite low.

She holds few objects dear but keeps the ones she treasures very close at hand, prioritizing her relationships and memories with others over much else. Kakeru likes to take photos to make memories and also keeps a diary.

██ HISTORY

The third of four children, Kakeru had always lived a life of having very little to herself and sharing her personal space with others. Her father worked hard at his dental clinic, the house earning a comfortable wage - but as someone who had, for most of his life, lived a fairly frugal existence the girl had mostly hand-me-downs from her elder sister and very few of her own belongings. She wanted for nothing in particular, mostly because she was taught not to.

Growing up, her siblings developed their own quirks and talents - her elder sister, Kana, excelled at the violin; the second eldest, Taiki, soon found his place in engineering and robotics -- but Kakeru had little to offer, unable to find a creative outlet or excel in her studies. Even her younger sister Aoi was doing well in her studies - while she had never stood out, bar the girl's ever growing height. Despite loving her siblings and appreciating their talents, Kakeru cursed herself for having none of her own - and turned to sports and athletics, determined to be good at something that was her own, anything. Jealous that she hadn't found passion or an affinity for anything "special", she felt that in comparison to her siblings she had nothing to offer. Not wanting to become complacent, another part of the average, she decided to commit herself to training her body instead. Discipline and determination to exercise (fuelled mostly by envy) helped her to at become fitter and build her stamina, eventually joining the soccer club to set herself apart from her siblings. She was determined to build her own skills from scratch, even if it meant starting from none.

For the majority of middle school, being the "sporty child" suited her well - she did look the part, after all - but she soon found that in a team sport like soccer she had little opportunity to separate herself from the team. She didn't stand out enough, it seemed - and decided on a whim that she would quit and join a different club. When consulting with her seniors about her decision to quit, an upperclassman she had admired in the club confronted her about how self-centered she was being, lecturing her about selfishness and making her aware of how she came off to others. Too engrossed in trying to find a way to make herself different, it came as a slap in the face - but she soon realised how childish her behaviour had been and began to keep that side of her hidden away, endeavouring to mask (and eventually change) her nature.

Although entering high school she's awfully aware of her misgivings, a person's nature is difficult to change - but to avoid becoming bitter over team interactions this year she has decided to try her hand at solo activities instead. Through all her jealous feelings, all she really wishes for is to become her own person - but is still too immature to know how to get there.
